By now most of us know that antioxidants are crucial for protection from everyday free radicals and oxidative stress. And since your skin is essentially your second mouth, it’s important to understand that whatever you put on it will be quickly absorbed into your body.
"Wearing makeup, showering in chlorinated water, and washing dishes with powerful soaps are all among the things we do everyday that create stress on the skin, and ultimately on the body"
Unfortunately, we have yet to discover the “fix-it-all” pill, but if you want glowing, young-looking skin (which honestly, who doesn’t?) there’s a simple, foolproof regimen that’s sure to make a difference: eat clean food rich in antioxidants, and follow an organic skincare routine.
I’ve noticed that within the first year of following a strict, clean diet, and making sure to get an abundance of topical antioxidants through this homemade face serum, I hardly find myself needing to put on makeup. I’m 34 years old, and my skin is undoubtedly better than it was in my 20’s! My acne is gone, my pores have minimized, and I no longer have combination skin.
I specifically designed this recipe to combat cellular aging caused by oxidation, and to help restore skin to its natural, glowing state faster than you can ever imagine. As a base I use vitamin E oil, which is a highly active antioxidant known to keep you looking young and fresh by retarding oxidative aging of the cells. I’ve added vitamin C oil, which plays a primary role in the formation of collagen – and more collagen equals less wrinkles. Vitamins C and E both work together to boost each other’s antioxidant functions. I’ve also added vitamin A (in the form of carotene found abundantly in carrots) in the form of carrot seed oil to help mitigate acne and wrinkles, and to further enhance the activation of vitamin E. To top it off and give a little extra boost, I’ve added rosemary which is a powerful antioxidant high on the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) chart, and is shown to soothe the skin and help heal eczema, wounds and bruises. When paired with primrose oil, this potent serum also helps target acne, and smooth overall skin tone.
Ready in less than 5 minutes, this antioxidant bomb will surely help improve the appearance of skin and help you shine and glow wherever you go!
