Enhance Your Dreams with "The Dream Plant"

Oct 19, 2020

Ah! One of my favorite obsessions. Native Americans named it “The Dream Plant” because it does what it says. Mugwort is truly miraculous. It not only boosts your REM dream state but also helps at increasing deep sleep. As you age your quality of sleep becomes less efficient due in part on the decline of NREM (deep sleep).

For the majority of the population, mugwort is considered a weed. A nuisance to a manicured garden. But if you knew how important this plant is for your health, this would be the treasure to a garden.

Benefits of Mugwort

Mugwort root as a “tonic” is used to boost energy. People take the rest of the plant for stomach and intestinal conditions including colic, diarrhea, constipation, cramps, weak digestion, worm infestations, and persistent vomiting. Mugwort is also used to stimulate gastric juice and bile secretion. It’s also amazing for regulating the menstrual cycle and easing the transition to menopause. In fact, many cultures have used mugwort for this purpose throughout history.

Mugwort for dreaming

The most commonly reported results are improved dream recall, an increase in dream vividness and even lucid dreams, enhanced creativity and sometimes increased colorfulness of your dreams. I can bow for this as I’ve been taking it for 4 days straight.

How to use Mugwort

The easiest way to take mugwort is simply to brew up an old-fashioned cup of tea! Just use around a teaspoon of plant material - roots, leaves, flowers, stems are all fine - and a kettle of hot water. Easy.

Steep for ten minutes – or longer, experiment. Honey is an excellent additive.

Mugwort is not a psychedelic so don’t expect to feel high from it.

If you happen to live nearby one of the many road side bushes, you can simply go out and pick some!

Mugwort in Capsules

I’ve also been experimenting with Lucid Dream Leaf they have organic mugwort available in capsules. Simple take a couple of them right before bedtime. Make sure to have a notepad ready next to your bed. It helps to write down the dreams that are meaningful so you can later interpret them.
