The Toxic Truth About The Food We Eat
What toxins are in the food we eat?
Chemicals are used in every step of the process that puts food on our table: production, harvesting, processing, packing, transport, marketing and consumption and can be dangerous to our health
By learning to identify and remove these toxins, you can replace them with proper nutrients for amplified results.
The most common toxins in your kitchen are also the most disruptive to your health — leading to weight gain, low energy and inflammation.
These toxins include:
– Heavy Metals
– Rancid oils
What is it? Herbicide and pesticides
What does it do? Your body confuses glyphosate for the amino acid glycine–prominent in your collagen. It then attaches everywhere glycine would, like your skin, muscles, tissues, and organs…for years! This causes premature aging and a long list of side-effects, like inability to lose weight and low energy.
Where it's found? Conventional produce, meats, dairy, even your tap water.
Replacements: Stick with organic produce and grass-fed animal products.
What is it? Lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic
What does it do? The havoc that they wreak within your body deserves an entire encyclopedia. They are big contributors to cognitive decline, hormone imbalance, gut Dysbiosis, and are linked to different forms of cancer. Ps. it takes years for your body to get rid of some of them. Lead actually becomes part of your bone matrix.
Where it's found? Medications, fish, tap water and conventional farming.
Replacements: Stick with organic local farmers, avoid big fish like tuna, mackerel and yellow tail. Get a water filter that has the capability to filter these out. (I'll have a whole piece on water shortly, stay tuned.)
What is it? Vegetable oil, canola oil, corn oil, legume oil, nut oil, seed oil, and even your omega-3 oils.
What does it do? They create free-radicals at room temperature. This creates a domino effect of free radicals to your cells, rob you from antioxidants, and create inflammation and worse, they become part of your fat tissue. They are like the rotten apple in a fruit bowl. For years!
Where it's found? Everywhere, read the labels. Some trail mix contains these oils. I've seen them in "organic hummus" and store-bought guacamole.
Replacements: Opt in for grass-fed butter, grass-fed ghee, and organic coconut oil. Get Omega-3's from whole foods. Once it's refined, it loses the antioxidants that protect it from becoming rancid in a bottle.
Start to become aware of these toxic ingredients and start to remove them.
Remember, our goal is to help the body battle inflammation so you can regulate blood sugar and lose weight.
Start to replace these toxic foods with healing foods so you're not depleted. You can easily replace 1-2 meals each day with TUSOL smoothies so you can fill nutrient gaps.
