Ramp-Up Your Lines of Defense

By Ingrid De La O , March 21, 2020

There are a few things that have been scientifically proven to minimize the contraction of viruses. Yes, washing your hands is important, as is keeping a 6′ distance from other people, but there are also some other simple ways that we all can step it up a notch.

COVID-19 comes from the family of RNA viruses that are shaped like icosahedron, it has little antenna-looking things that are made of glycoproteins that are used to bind to your cells. It has a lipid envelope (membrane) around its protein shell. It needs the help of your machinery – your cells’ protein making machine the ribosomes – to reproduce. So let’s not help it, yes?

This virus has to successfully make it through your body’s complex line of defenses to make a touchdown.

Like in a football game, the quarterback runs with the ball to make a touchdown, but in the meantime there are other team members trying to take it down — Yes! This shows how horrible I am with sports. But I hope that analogy can help you imagine what is happening within your body when it contracts a virus so much better. Those team members are part of your immune system.

MUCOSA

The mucus in your nose is not just annoying, it’s actually there to keep you healthy. The dryer your nose lining becomes, the more prone it is to infection. The mucus which lines the mucosa provides a physical barrier against invasion by pathogens. It is sticky and traps pathogens when they enter the nasal cavity so they don’t go to other parts of your body, like the lungs. Trapping pathogens enables components of the mucus to attack and destroy the microbes. For example, an antibody called IgA prevents pathogenic microbes from attaching to cells of the mucosa and in doing so prevents them from invading the cells.

You can find ImmunoglobinA (IgA) in grass-fed colostrum, also available in a capsule by Just Thrive here.

Xylitol Nasal Spray is also very effective from allowing viruses to attach to the nasal cells, xylitol is a naturally occurring alcohol derived from birch wood, you can open the spray bottle and add 1-2 drops of oil of oregano. This oil is known for its antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It contains several potentially healing compounds, such as carvacrol.

You can also get the oregano nasal spray here, it’s made with sea salt in a springwater base.

HYDROCHLORIC ACID

This long name is basically your stomach acid. Stick a finger and it will start to dissolve it right away, at least it’s supposed to if your acid is strong and healthy. It’s also there to destroy any pathogens like bacteria, and viruses that are introduce via food, liquids you drink, or you touching your mouth or licking the rails at metro stations (if you are into that). But what happens when you have low levels of this acid? Stress, tension, and anxiety before eating as well as deficiencies in some vitamins (B complex primarily) and minerals, like magnesium, can all cause a lack of hydrochloric acid (HCL), more of us are short of it than we realize.

STIMULATING HEALTHY AMOUNTS OF HCL

The pancreas needs electrolytes and high quality water in order to stimulate healthy amounts of HCL. It’s important to get your minerals from a liquid source, not just from pills. Magnesium bicarbonate is a complex hydrated salt that exists only in water under specific conditions. It does not occur in a solid form. Add magnesium to your filtered water. Embarrassing video of me making it here. If you rather buy it, you can get the bottles of electrolytes here.

OIL OF OREGANO

Sleeping with a diffuser with oil of oregano is the best thing you can do. I touched a little on oil of oregano nasal spray, but in these times, it deserves another shout-out.

Essential oils of oregano are widely recognized for their antimicrobial activity, as well as their antiviral and antifungal properties. Nevertheless, recent investigations have demonstrated that these compounds are also potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti diabetic and cancer suppressor agents. Add a few drops to your diffuser and call it a night.

THE AIR YOU BREATHE

The air in your environment is extremely important right now. Especially during this time of quarantine. The only filter I have found to actually kill viruses is made by Hypoair, their lab tests shows that their air purifiers are able to kill 99.9 of COVID-19. They are also made in the USA which is a big plus. Get them here Hypoallergenic AIR

DON’T EAT IMMUNE LOWERING JUNK

Your microbiome is counting on you now more than ever. That’s because your bacteria is part of your immune system and they need all the arsenal necessary to fight any intruders. You wouldn’t send an army to fight a war without the necessary equipment right? How about sending sick soldiers to fight a war? The microbiome need diversity in food, like polyphenols, prebiotics — insoluble fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other goodies. Do not eat food loaded with preserevatives, chemicals, food coloring, and over-processed ingredients. This will alter the microbiome and will open the door to pathogens.

TUSOL is a complete meal replacement that was formulated especially to boost the microbiome, lower inflammation, and boost antioxidants that fight oxidative stress. So your immune system is strong. Get your box here.
